How to Find the Best Black Friday Deals
Black Friday is one of the biggest and best shopping days in the retail calendar. From more humble beginnings in the UK, the day has grown in popularity, and it’s easy to see why. With the potential for big savings in the run up to Christmas, Black Friday seems set to be even more popular this year. But what date is Black Friday in the UK and what are the best Black Friday deals available? In this post, we take a look.
What Date is Black Friday in the UK?
Once a US-only event, Black Friday is now a global fixture in the shopping calendar. Traditionally held on the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, this year Black Friday falls on Friday 23rd November.
However, although the name suggests so, the popularity of Black Friday now means that it’s no longer just a one day only event. This year for example, Amazon has announced that they will offer 10 days of savings, while Halfords already have Black Friday deals in store.
Best Black Friday Deals
The best Black Friday deals change annually. However, it’s always a good idea to have a general idea of the products you can expect to find savings on.
Traditionally, the latest tech and gadgets are among the best Black Friday deals, as are white goods and beauty products.
By looking at the best deals from 2017, we can build a general idea of what we can expect to be on offer this year. Last year, the best deals included:
PS4 Bundles - These bundles, such as a PS4 with the new FIFA 18 game, were incredibly popular in online retailers such as Amazon and Argos.
FIFA 18 - As well as being snapped up in bundles, the new FIFA 18 alone was popular, with Argos reducing it to £19.99 on Black Friday, which is better than half price.
Fashion - It wasn’t just technology that proved popular in 2017, when ASOS offered up to 60% off women’s shoes and accessories and men’s jeans and chinos.
Home Furnishings - Black Friday 2017 also proved the perfect time to renovate homes in the build up to Christmas, when Habitat offered up to 50% off selected lines. B&Q also did a number of online exclusive offers.
Best Black Friday Deals in the UK this Year
Exactly what will happen this year is unknown, but some experts predict that savings of up to £1,000 or more will be available on some items.
Due to the strength of tech sales last year, we would expect that similar deals will be available this year, which could be good news if you’re looking for a PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. Likewise, if you still haven’t bought the new FIFA, then it will be worth looking to see if Argos repeat their better than half price offer this year.
Elsewhere, it may also be worth looking out for soundbars, Bluetooth speakers and other gadgets, such as smartphones. Fitbits and health trackers could also be reduced, making them ideal Christmas presents.
If you’re on the look out for deals, then keep an eye on retailers such as Argos, Amazon, John Lewis, GAME, Tesco and Currys PC World.
How to Get the Best Black Friday Deals
With such great deals, competition can understandably be high. So, if you’re looking for something specific:
Research – Make sure you know the best price for that item before Black Friday. This way, you’ll know exactly how good the deal is.
Follow – Find your favourite shops on social media and follow/like them. It’s likely they’ll post their best deals on these channels.
Subscribe – If your favourite store offers a newsletter, then it’s wise to subscribe to it so you’re getting the latest news on any offers.
Check for Codes – Black Friday deals can be great, but the deal can sometimes be combined with other offers. So always check to see whether you could save even more.
